To colour in the darker shades... the darker shades are the ones that produce depth and reveal form. It gives an image perspective, but it also hints at the source of light, what is "seen again waiting in hiding". It feels like an invitation to paint a portrait but not what is seen on the surface, but what is found beneath, what is seen by the mind's eye.
